Livewell Southwest District Nurse Specialist Practitioners Megan-Louise Bonner and Lisa-Marie Veale have been given the prestigious title of Queen’s Nurse (QN) by The Queen’s Nursing Institute (QNI).
Megan-Louise and Lisa-Marie were presented with this honour by Professor Dame Elizabeth Nneka Anionwu DBE, QNI Vice President and Patron of the Mary Seacole Trust, at the Queen’s Nursing Institute Awards Ceremony held in the Millennium Gloucester Hotel London, on the 29 November 2024.

Megan-Louise Bonner, District Nurse Specialist Practitioner, said: “To be awarded Queen’s Nurse title allows me to share my commitment with the Queen’s Nurse community, allowing me to work collaboratively to promote high quality and compassionate care to our community in the Southwest.
“I have gained my Postgraduate District Nursing Specialist Practitioner Qualification and with studying and practicing at advanced practice level, whilst gaining leadership and management skills on the PGDip this has now allowed me to practice currently as a District Nurse Specialist, and I will soon be transitioning into a Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner role as part of the new Frailty Virtual Ward Service within Livewell.
“I would encourage those working in the community, with over 5 years’ experience, to consider applying and join the QNI community to continually improve patient care and working environments.”
Megan-Louise and Lisa-Marie join seventeen of their fellow nursing colleagues who have been awarded this prestigious title within Livewell.
Dr Crystal Oldman CBE, Chief Executive of the QNI, said: “On behalf of the QNI I would like to congratulate Megan-Louise and Lisa-Marie and welcome them both as a Queen’s Nurse. Queen’s Nurses serve as leaders and role models in community nursing, delivering high quality health care across the country. The application and assessment process to become a Queen’s Nurse is rigorous and requires clear commitment to improving care for patients, their families and carers. We look forward to working with Megan-Louise Bonner and Lisa-Marie Veale and all other new Queen’s Nurses who have received the title this year.”
