DESCRIPTION:Plymouth is a hive of activity for mental health projects and this year has been no different; in October 2017 Plymouth’s Director of Public Health launched the fourth year of Thrive Plymouth’s campaign to reduce health inequalities\, which focused on Mental Wellbeing and the 5 Ways 2 Wellbeing using the ‘CLANG’ concept: ‘Connect’\, ‘Learn’\, ‘be Active’\, ‘Notice’ and ‘Give’. \nPlymouth’s mental health support services have taken this message on board and have set an international example of collaboration and shared-services. \nTo celebrate Plymouth’s impressive array of services and\, to coincide with World Mental Health Day\, we are holding Plymouth’s first ‘Mental Wealth Festival’ on 10th October 2018 at the Lower Guildhall. \nThe Mental Wealth Festival will give us the opportunity to hear about what has been happening in the city this year to support the Thrive Plymouth campaign. It will also be an opportunity to hear from inspirational speakers who will share their stories of overcoming mental health challenges\, doctors sharing the latest research\, and interactive workshops to help you look after and maintain your own mental health\, whoever you are. \nYoga workshops\, head massages\, dancing and much more will be on offer for you to take part in. Even if you simply want to watch rather than join in\, there will be so much to do. \nThroughout the day\, visitors will be able to talk to representatives from key mental health organisations in Plymouth who will be manning stalls\, so if a yoga workshop isn’t your bag\, you’ll be able to talk to service providers about what they do. \nWho should come? This day is for the general public to learn about how to look after our mental health. It is also a chance for students and healthcare professionals to add to their CPD and learn about upcoming research.
