Ambulatory Care Unit

The ambulatory care unit is run jointly by Plymouth Hospitals Trust and Livewell Southwest.

Ambulatory care is when treatment and tests can be completed without the need for a hospital bed. Often, treatment may last over a number of days with patients returning home after each episode.

Treatment time (including waiting for results) can be anything between 1 and 6 hours, depending on the tests and treatment involved. Treatment will either be from an acute consultant or an acute GP.

Other specialised ambulatory clinics that are run from this location are the Transient Ischemic Attack Clinic, Acute Neurology Clinic and the Acute Rheumatology Clinic.
