Clinical Neuropsychology

Welcome to Clinical Neuropsychology based in the Beauchamp Centre, Mount Gould Hospital

Clinical Psychologists see in-patients on Plym Neurological Rehabilitation Unit and Stroke Rehabilitation Unit (SRU), Mount Gould Hospital, as well as out-patients referred by staff on these units, GPs, Consultants and community therapists.

They provide neuropsychological assessments, cognitive rehabilitation, counselling and psychological therapies. Families and carers are encouraged to be involved in the meetings with the psychologist.

Following referral to the service the psychologist will assess mood and cognitive abilities and advise on goals to aim for. They will monitor progress and continue to advise and support families and carers as well as other professionals involved with a person’s care.

All information is kept confidential in line with the NHS Confidentiality Code of Practice. Sometimes it may be necessary to share information with other agencies to work together and provide the best possible care.
