Cotehele Unit

The Cotehele Unit is an inpatient facility based at the Mount Gould Hospital site for people predominantly over the age of 65, who are suffering from functional mental health issues and are in the most acute and vulnerable stages of their illness.

Our emphasis is on recovery using person-centred approaches. We aim to provide a comfortable, clean and, above all, safe environment where individuals are respected and included in care planning.

Cotehele offers a place where a patient's independence, self esteem and personal choice is encouraged by every team member of the multi disciplinary team through daily care and support, therapeutic activities and regular multi disciplinary interaction.

We aim to achieve a successful discharge, promoted through independence and the maintenance of purposeful activities.

We have effective working relationships with a wide range of statutory and non-statutory agencies through clear and regular communication to ensure that care is maintained after discharge.

A booklet has been developed for patients and visitors to Cotehele, which can be found under 'Leaflet' on the right-hand side of this page.
