Occupational Therapy - Stroke Rehabilitation Unit

The Occupational Therapists on the Stroke Rehabilitation Unit provide assessment and rehabilitation treatment programmes to 15 patients.

The Occupational Therapists (OT's) assess patients' cognitive and functional abilities, and provide treatment programmes and equipment to facilitate patients to achieve their maximum level of independence along with their therapy goals. The OT's will often assess a patient's home environment to ensure an effective risk managed discharge is achieved. Alternatively, if patients are to be admitted to nursing or residential homes, they will provide information to assist in effectively meeting the patient's needs within that environment.
