Stress Control

Stress is the feeling of being under too much emotional or physical pressure.

Stress can be a useful part of everyday life but sometimes it can lead to a feeling of being overwhelmed and exhausted, causing difficulties at work or at home. Stress can affect how you think, make decisions, and prioritise daily activities.

You may recognise some physical symptoms such as sleeplessness, loss of appetite, sweating, poor concentration, losing your temper and drinking more alcohol.

Stress Control is a four-week course Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) course that can help you learn better ways of handling stress that can come from common problems such as work, family and life stressors. The course helps you understand your stress, how it is affecting you and gives you some self-help strategies to tackle stress.

  • Session 1: Information about stress and control your body: relaxation, exercise
  • Session 2: Control your thoughts: learn to think your way out of stress
  • Session 3: Control your actions: boost self confidence
  • Session 4: Bring it all together and controlling your future

Stress Control runs over four consecutive weeks, and is currently offered on either:

  • Thursday mornings : 9.30 – 11.30
  • Tuesday evenings :   5.30-7.30
