Children and young people struggling with their mental health will be able to access support around the clock, thanks to a new crisis support line from Livewell Southwest.
Livewell Southwest is the social enterprise delivering health and social care services in Plymouth, and parts of South Hams and West Devon, including children’s mental health services for the Plymouth area.
Any child or young person under the age of 18 in Plymouth experiencing a mental health crisis can call to seek support or advice from mental health professionals who will then triage as necessary. The professionals will also be able to signpost to other agencies where it is deemed appropriate for further support.
They do not need to be open to the Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) but they will need to be registered with a Plymouth GP.
Parents, carers and families or professionals with concerns about a young person’s mental health can also call the number.
Jayne Blood, CAMHS Service Manager at Livewell Southwest said: “This is an unprecedented time for everyone but particularly for our young people who will be feeling more anxious than usual.
“We want to ensure that we can do whatever possible to help our children and young people during this time.
