Plym Bridge House is a 12-bed, purpose-built psychiatric unit in north Plymouth for teenagers with severe mental health problems or mental illness.
Our experienced team provides high-quality, short-term care for young people whose needs cannot be met in the community. The 12- to 18-year-olds we admit are assessed and treated in the least restrictive way possible, and for the shortest amount of time appropriate.
By working with local child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS), we ensure admissions are smooth, discharge is timely and that care is sustainable. Young people can be admitted informally, by parental consent (if under 16) or under the Mental Health Act.
Plym Bridge House is staffed by a dedicated and experienced team made up of: consultant psychiatrists; clinical psychologists; medical staff; registered mental health nurses; nurses with children’s nursing qualifications; health care assistants; occupational therapists and family therapists. The site is also home to teachers and teaching assistants to ensure people’s education needs are met, alongside their physical, mental and emotional needs.
