The Lower Limb Service aims to provide treatment for people who have been assessed as having a venous, arterial, or mixed aetiology leg ulcer. A leg ulcer is defined as the loss of skin below the knee which has taken more than 2 weeks to heel.
The Service is available to for people over 18 years old and registered with a GP in the Western CCG. Patients will be expected to travel to a venue as identified within the area. People will have the option to access any of the venues identified if preferred.
Our venues are at the following locations:
- Kingsbridge Hospital (South Hams)
- Tavistock Clinic (West Devon)
- Four Greens – Whitleigh (North Plymouth)
- Local Care Centre (South Plymouth)
- Cumberland Centre (West Plymouth)
Any referred person will receive an assessment and treatment within 2 weeks of receipt of referral. Referral will be triaged within 48 hours and the patient will be contacted within 3 working days. An appointment is offered within 10 days of receipt of referral.
To provide a wellbeing aspect to the treatment plan this encompasses a well leg pathway. This is a 6-week programme which offers the opportunity to extend if wanted.
To help with wound assessment, the Lower Limb Service uses the Minuteful Wound app.
