Community Mental Health Survey

How was your mental health care? Participate in the Community Mental Health Survey

At Livewell Southwest, we value feedback from the people who use our services. Each year, the NHS in conjunction with Care Quality Commission (CQC) conducts a national survey to gather people’s views and experiences of certain mental health services, helping organisations like ours understand what is working well and where improvements can be made. If you used any of the following services during April or May, you may be invited to take part in the survey, which launches each year in August, and share your experiences of the care and support you received.

  • Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)
  • Community Mental Health Service
  • Complex Emotional Needs Team
  • Home Treatment Team
  • Icebreak Team
  • Insight Team
  • Mental Health Assessment and Intervention Service (MAIS)
  • Mental Health in Schools Team
  • Perinatal Mental Health Team
  • Personality Disorder Service
  • Psychotherapy Services
  • Specialist Outreach Recovery Team (SORT)

How we use your feedback

The results of each survey are published the following year. Once received by the Service User Experience Team, the findings are reviewed alongside other feedback gathered such as through the Friends and Family Test and Customer Care Team, who manages complaints, compliments and concerns. A report is then produced and shared with relevant services for review. Services are encouraged to celebrate and share positive feedback with their teams, while also identifying actions that can be taken to enhance the quality of care and support provided. Any agreed actions are typically incorporated into existing service improvement plans and monitored as part of ongoing improvement work. The report is also presented to the Senior Management Team to support organisational learning.

How you will be invited

If you received mental health care from any of the services listed above during April or May, you could be randomly selected to take part in the survey. You will receive an invitation letter explaining how to complete the survey online or on your phone. If you prefer to complete the survey on paper, a paper questionnaire will be sent in a later mailing. You will also receive information on how to complete the survey in a different language and accessible formats such as Easy Read, BSL, braille, or large print. If you would like to opt out of taking part in the survey, please email: [email protected].

If you receive an invitation, please take a few minutes to share your experience. Every voice is valued, whether contact with our services was regular or minimal.

Your information will be kept confidential

The survey is confidential, carried out by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and a dedicated Survey Coordination Centre at Picker. Your responses are not shared with our staff, so they will not see your answers. Taking part in the survey will not affect your care or treatment. The NHS Community Mental Health Survey has Section 251 (NHS Act 2006) approval to process contact details.
