Livewell Southwest is proud to announce that it has been named ‘Best Large Employer’ at the 2025 South Devon College Apprenticeship Awards for creating a supportive and inspiring environment that empowers apprentices to reach their full potential.
The evening brought together apprentices, employers and college staff to celebrate the successful achievements of this year’s apprentices.
Judges praised Livewell’s dedication to the growth, development, and wellbeing of its people.
Livewell Southwest CEO Michelle Thomas said: “This recognition is a true reflection of the dedication and hard work our entire workforce puts into supporting and developing apprentices. We are committed to providing an environment that empowers individuals to reach their full potential, providing the resources, mentorship and opportunities needed for success.”
Three colleagues were also praised at the awards ceremony which was held at the Grand Hotel, Torquay.
Fay Churchward won the Higher Level / Degree Apprentice of the Year 2025 award. Fay works in the Business Intelligence Team, as an Information Analyst and Co-ordinator, and is set to complete the Chartered Management Degree Leadership Level 6 apprenticeship in January 2026.

Fay said: “I see the time I invest each week, as an investment in myself and my future. It is building my confidence and skills, and helping me shape the kind of professional I want to be.
“Apprenticeships aren’t just for young people. They are a brilliant opportunity to access recognised qualifications without the burden of student debt. In fact, once I’ve finished this, I’m seriously thinking about taking on a Master’s. I’ve well and truly caught the learning bug.”
Jacqueline King received a highly commended award in the Higher Level / Degree Apprentice of the Year 2025 category. Jackie works in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Team, as CAMHS Service Support Manager, and completed the Operations / Departmental Manager Level 5 apprenticeship in April.
Jackie remembers: “When I completed my end point assessment, I actually thought I had failed and would be asked to re-sit it. My tutor’s response a week later was “you did so bad, not only did you pass, but you passed with a distinction!” To be nominated and then win highly commended was the icing on the cake.
“The support received from South Devon College and from Livewell was second to none and it is clear that everyone wants you to succeed.”
Daniel Summer received a highly commended award in the Business and Management Apprentice of the Year 2025 category. Dan works at Plymouth Talking Therapies, as an Employment Advisor, and completed the Chartered Team Leader / Supervisor Level 3 apprenticeship in April.
Dan said: “The apprenticeship has made me a more knowledgeable, capable, and self-assured team player. I’m now more able to support Livewell as an organisation and I have learned what type of leader I want to be.”
