What you can expect as a patient when arriving at the Lee Mill Unit
On arrival to the unit, you (the patient) will be greeted by the staff on the ward.
You will then be required to be searched – which involves going passed the metal detector and your pockets being checked.
All items and belongings are checked by staff and recorded.
During this time, you will be shown around the unit, and staff will introduce you to other staff and patients.
You will be shown to your bedspace, and it will be explained to you who your keyworker team will be throughout your admission.
You will be given a chance to settle in – as we know it can be a long day and unsettling for some people.
You will also be seen by the ward doctor to check if there are any physical concerns. This will give you a chance to talk about any issues or concerns that you may have.
Staff might want to have a 1-1 with you to complete any admission paperwork as well during your first day on the ward.
Security on the ward
Lee Mill does have security measures in place on the unit.
You have the freedom to move around the unit freely, access at all times to your bedspace, communal areas, games room, multi-faith room and coffee lounge.
Staff presence is required when accessing the garden, sensory garden, kitchen, gym, and art room.
We have a list of prohibited items that are not allowed to be taken onto the unit, which can be provided upon request.
When returning to the unit from a period of leave, you will be required to be searched by two members of staff and if you have been off of the grounds, you will be required to complete a breathalyser and Urine Drug Screen (UDS) test.

What will my care look like once i have left the ward?
When you get discharged from Lee Mill the staff will help you move to another ward or your own accommodation within the community, including helping you to move your belongings to where you’re staying now.
The team will keep your family and people that are important to you informed along the way.
When Lee Mill discharge you they will ask you to complete an exit interview and will ask if its okay if you friends and family fill out a survey to.
If you’re being discharged to another ward such as Livewell’s ‘The Cove’ unit, you will be introduced to all the new staff that will help you settle in and will continue to work alongside your community team.
If you’re discharged to the community, your community team will continue to support you and your mental health.
