by | 23rd April 2020 | News

Adults in Plymouth struggling with their mental health will be able to get immediate support thanks to a new initiative from Livewell Southwest.

Livewell Southwest is the social enterprise delivering health and social care services in Plymouth and parts of South Hams and West Devon.

The social enterprise has set up a First Response Service to support those who may be experiencing problems with their mental health.

The service, staffed by mental health professionals, will provide advice, support and signposting to anyone aged over 18 in Plymouth experiencing a mental health crisis between 8am and 8pm seven days a week.

From 1 May, this service will be 24/7.

You do not need to be an existing service user of Livewell and the line is also open to other health and care professionals and emergency responders such as the police who may need advice when supporting someone with mental health difficulties.

The helpline is available via NHS 111 – select the mental health option.

Sara Mitchell, Strategic Mental Health Lead at Livewell Southwest, said: “This helpline is open to anyone in Plymouth over the age of 18 and we would urge anyone needing help to please contact us so that we can support you.”
