Speech, language and communication skills underpin all key subjects throughout the school curriculum and beyond. Good early language skills play a crucial role in

  • Accessing the curriculum – understanding what the teacher is saying.

  • Socially – playing and making friends.

Research has demonstrated that children starting school with poor or reduced language skills do not have the tools to access the next stage of learning, may struggle with friendships and may have low self confidence.
