Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services
Plymouth CAMHS provides specialist mental health assessment and treatment to children and young people registered with a Plymouth GP who have significant, complex or enduring emotional or mental health difficulties.
Services CAMHS provides
CAMHS delivers services for Children and Young People aged 0-18 years (LAC 19yrs). Please ensure consent is obtained and documented prior to sending the Request for Involvement. If the child is of school age, please send any additional information that can be provided by the school will benefit the CAMHS assessment process.
The CAMHS service does not accept the following:
Referrals for children and young people that do not have a primary diagnosis of mental health difficulties. If the child or young person does not have a primary diagnosis of mental health difficulties, please consider other services.
Routine CAMHS Contact
The Early Help Advisory line 01752 431613 is available weekdays from 9:00-16.00, 5 days a week. Please note: This is not a crisis line.
In the event a young person is in crisis, please contact First Response on NHS 111 (select the mental health option) which is provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Urgent Care Pathway
First Response Mental Health Crisis. When requiring immediate mental health support, please dial 111 and select the Mental Health option. This will connect you to your local 24/7 All Age Mental Health Crisis line.
24/7 urgent advice line open to young people, parents/carers and professionals:
- Children and young people that are an imminent risk to themselves or others due to a deterioration in their mental health
- Have active thoughts and plans of suicide with intent
- Are suffering acute psychotic symptoms
- Those who are severely depressed and/or in need of crisis assessment and intensive home treatment to prevent admission to hospital.
