Josh’s journey

by | 7th August 2023 | News

Imagine this. You are on a train, heading to Germany to enjoy the Christmas markets with friends when, out of the blue, you have a major unconscious inducing seizure. That was Josh Jones’ reality in December 2022. After being rushed to hospital, doctors soon confirmed the 28 year old from Plymouth had a brain tumour.

When he returned to the UK, he had surgery to remove the tumour at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. He was later transferred to the Plym Neuro Rehab Unit at Mount Gould. The ward, run by Livewell Southwest, is a 15-bed inpatient facility for adults with acquired brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and other neurological conditions.

Before his diagnosis Josh, who is an engineering geologist, led a very active life and loved running and hiking. With the support of the team at Plym Neuro Rehab Unit he is determined to enjoy those activities again – even running a marathon.
