Following a formal interview process, we are delighted to announce that Dr Soni Bhate has been appointed as Medical Director of Livewell Southwest, subject to checks. Dr Bhate has been serving as Interim Medical Director since 1 September 2023, as well as having taken on the role of our Caldicott Guardian from October.
We are really excited to confirm Soni in this position, she brings extensive mental health expertise having worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist since 2008. She has previously held roles as a clinical director for Mental Health within Livewell.
Throughout her career, Dr Bhate has built up vast experience in the management of medical staff, the implementation of local and national policies and the training and education of junior staff. She is also the Royal College of Psychiatrists Trust representative for Livewell Southwest and so is well-sighted on national issues regarding psychiatry. As our Caldicott Guardian, she is responsible for making sure that the personal information about those who use the organisation’s services is used legally, ethically and appropriately, and that confidentiality is maintained.
