The Orthotics service specialises in the assessment and provision of orthoses.
Orthoses are externally applied devices designed to support, accommodate or improve function in an impaired body part and can take many forms, including:
- Footwear
- Insoles
- Ankle braces
- Knee braces
- Wrist braces
- Spinal support
The service can be accessed by referral via any health professional including your GP, hospital consultant, physiotherapist, occupational therapist or podiatrist.
Orthoses are appropriate for problems resulting from a wide range of conditions from simple foot pain to the physical effects of conditions such as stroke, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis and cerebral palsy to name just a few.
