The aim of the Specialist Community Forensic Team (SCFT) is to reduce or safely manage behaviour amongst people with a mental health condition which may put members of the public at risk and would thereby otherwise lead to contact with the criminal justice system or admission to a secure hospital.
In a community setting there should be a focus on prevention, through admission avoidance, and early intervention through collaboration, with other services to include training and support of staff, liaison and diversion, community mental health teams, case consultation and formulation.
SCFT will provide care coordination for all eligible, adult mental health patients in secure hospitals around the country who have a 117 entitlement with Plymouth.
SCFT will operate on a Monday – Friday, 9-5 basis, excluding public holidays. Outside of these hours the usual Livewell Southwest arrangements for community crisis response will apply.
